ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER

Hélène Wiesenhaan is a self-taught photographer based in Haarlem, the Netherlands. Ever since she was 6 years old, Hélène knew she wanted to be a photographer. At 16, she bought her first camera and began capturing street life and people.

After her studies, she went to work as a photographer for one of Holland’s largest publishers VNU/Sanoma Media. Since then, she has worked for many well-known Dutch magazines and contributes to Getty Images. Her work covers many areas, including reportage, fashion, sports and portraits.

She likes to step into the different worlds we live in and tell the stories through photographs. In 2013, she exhibited in New York during Photoville as part of the Dutch exhibition “Alive.” In 2016, her Paralympic photographic work is part of the exhibition “Emotions” at ADPLOG Turin, Italy. In the same year she published her first book “Capacity, the Dutch Parathletics Team’s journey to Rio2016” together with Inge Hondebrink.
